Arts Educator · Yoga & Meditation Teacher · ActorMariel is an arts educator, actor, and yoga & meditation teacher with a background in Meisner-based actor training, performance, and over twenty years of yoga and meditation practice, study, and teaching.Her work is rooted in presence, responsiveness, and truthful human connection in performance.


About

Mariel trained in Musical Theatre at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore and later completed the two-year Meisner conservatory at the William Esper Studio in New York.She has worked as an actor across theatre, film, and television in Southeast Asia and the United States, including performances with Wild Rice and SRT Young Company, television hosting on Kids Central, and work in 'Singapore Dreaming' and other independent film projects. She also performed in the ensemble in the first all-Asian cast of an Off-Broadway musical in New York.She later returned to LASALLE as a Visiting Lecturer, teaching Meisner Technique and mindfulness-based work for actors before directing The Evolution of Musical Theatre in 2019 and 2020 for the BA Musical Theatre students.Her broader teaching background includes yoga, meditation, mindfulness education, and the development of wellbeing-focused curriculum for young people. Her approach is also informed by long-term meditation practice, including Vipassana meditation.
